This is Shoshana Bean’s debut studio album and it was released on December 2, 2008.

The album opens with Shoshana’s debut single “Superhero,” whixh still remains a powerhouse of R&B elements and Shoshana’s amazing voice. “Good Enough” is much more upbeat and incorporates more jazz instruments. It still has that tolling bell in the beginning, giving an interesting transition from Superhero. Shoshana’s vocals are really stellar and with the instrumental, really pulls you into the song. The chorus is really catchy!

“Feel Like Falling” brings us to the first R&B ballad of the album. Shoshana reaches into her lower vocal range and really showcases this in the chorus. “Can’t Nobody” starts with two people in conversation. But then a light-hearted upbeat Shoshana enters and this song is truly enchanting. Shoshana delivers crisp vocals and plays off the cuteness of the song.

“Come to Me” starts with a high pitched electric piano and Shoshana delivers some great vocals once again with this song. Its a good song, but I found it to be really boring actually until after the first chorus when the beats come in. The next track “Naomi” brings us back to a Superhero-esque vibe with heavy beats and Shoshana’s lower range. The chorus is really the only thing that stands out and after awhile I got sick of her saying Naomi….Naomi. But its ok, cause here comes the best track on the album!

Shoshana is really famous for singing “Ain’t No Way.” Just look it up on youtube! Here she delivers the best vocal performance of the album! It starts off with her and a simple piano. Then some beats come in and adds more flavor to the song. Around 2:32 is when her vocal prowess really comes out and at 2:54….. There is no way to describe it! Truly amazing! And yes this song gets one paragraph to itself cause its THAT FREAKIN’ GOOD!

How does Shoshana follow that up? With a parade of brass and some mixed drum beats. “Because of You” is really heavy in the lyrics and you can feel the emotion dripping from Shoshana’s lips, she’s not happy! Anyway, great song and a nice follow up to the previous shwostopper. “Again” slows things down again and has this old school R&B ballad feel. Shoshana delivers nice vocals. This song is mesmerizing in its composition as I could sway back and forth to this song forever. This is a song she would sing in a lounge type feel in my opinion. Good stuff!

“116th” brings in the acoustic guitar and Shoshana’s vocals resonate well with its sound. Mosaic provies the background vocals and I’m happy for this collaboration because its wonderful sounding and makes me smile. It’s a very heartwarming song! “Press On” is really getting back to old school R&B with its instrumental, but Shoshana brings her vocal prowess to the song. The message of the song is really strong and positive. Now there is a remix of Superhero with Da Wax? The song is literally the same excpet for the rap section, where he talks about his superpowers or whatever. It ruined it for me and totally pointless. People ask me why I don’t like rap, and this is why!

Shoshana’s debut effort is truly AMAZING minus the remix of Superhero. Shoshana always delivers the vocals that make the songs even better and she is truly going somewhere in this business. But I guess when you’ve been Elphaba, all you can do is take to the western skies!
