Superhero is Shoshana Bean’s debut single. It was released to download on the iTunes store on October 3, 2008.
I’m sure many of you are going: who in the heck is Shoshana Bean??? Well if you are familiar with the musical Wicked, the story that takes place before Dorothy appears in the Land of Oz, Shoshana was the standby to Idina Menzel in the role of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. She took over in January 2005 and played the role for a year.
Anyway, now that some background info is out of the way…. Superhero is a strong, powerful R&B track by the songstress. It uses heavy brass and an ominous church bell throughout the song. Shoshana delivers very strong vocals during the verses but she really shines during the chorus. No wonder she needs a superhero, cause no one else could handle her powerful voice. Its a great track and a very strong debut single!
